DarkLab Media Coordinator
12-month role, full-time

DarkLab is on the hunt for a forward-thinking Media Coordinator who has a keen interest in music, art and contemporary culture. The Media Coordinator will have an understanding of the Australian and international media landscape and will work with the communications team to promote DarkLab’s projects including Dark Mofo, Odeon Theatre, Altar, In The Hanging Garden and Project X.

The Gig

  • Work with the DarkLab communications team to manage media engagement and publicity for DarkLab’s projects.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to identify and deliver creative media strategies that enhance DarkLab projects and brand awareness, and meet tourism objectives.
  • Organising editorial coverage for long- and short-lead print, online, and broadcast media outlets, live and delayed television and radio broadcasts.
  • Writing and distributing media releases, working with editors and journalists to plan and facilitate editorial features, projects, and interviews.
  • Work with the Media Manager, Marketing Manager, and Partnerships Director on developing bespoke editorial engagement for media partners, corporate partners, and stakeholders.
  • Work autonomously with guidance from the Media Manager on organising administration for DarkLab projects, including timelines, schedules, budgets, accreditation, travel junkets, archiving and reporting on media activity.
  • Assist the communications team with other jobs as required.

The You

  • Diverse portfolio with 3–5 years of industry experience in journalism and/or publicity.
  • Excellent skills in written communication, email etiquette, organisational administration.
  • Excellent understanding of the media landscape—particularly relating to the arts, culture, and tourism—and a good understanding of best journalistic practice.
  • Ability to work autonomously while following direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and fact-checking.
  • Ability to work towards multiple deadlines, remaining cool-headed under pressure.
