Finished your university studies?  Done a few vintages but not quite ready to settle down?  Looking for a challenge and the experience you need to advance your winemaking career?  Well, Moorilla and Domaine A have the role for you!

This unique fixed term opportunity will give you the hands-on experience you need to learn how wineries work for an entire production season.  You will harness the knowledge of our Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker as you work alongside them, immersing yourself in all aspects of the winery.  From pre-vintage through to harvest, wine prep and all the way to packaging, you will learn and work through all of our processes giving you that cork-popping confidence you need to go forth in your career!  

The Gig:

  • Be involved in all aspects of winery operations through a calendar year
  • Quality control and preparation of wines for bottle – mentoring through blending, fining and disgorging trials
  • Work on and with the bottling, tirage and disgorging lines – set-up, calibration, maintenance and operations
  • Under direction, perform fruit delivery and processing procedures
  • Assist with sparkling, white and red wine fermentation management
  • Carry out all cellar operations including additions, stabilities, rackings, transfers and filtration
  • Assist with lab work through the year
  • Barrel management through the whole season
  • Assist with regular maintenance and cleaning of all equipment
  • Maintaining cellar cleanliness and presentation to a high standard
  • Contract from early February until just before Christmas

The You:

  • Graduated from a university winemaking program
  • Winery cellar experience achieved through multiple vintages coupled with a passion for high quality and cool climate wine
  • Career driven and strongly motivated to learn and be involved in all aspects of winery operations
  • A team player, with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to show initiative, work unsupervised and multi-task
  • Some flexibility required during vintage and bottling season work (some longer days required at times)
  • Physically able – ability to work on and around bottling and packaging lines, safely carry hoses, plunge ferments, lift crates / boxes, move barriques, puncheons etc
  • An understanding of workplace health and safety and a willingness to practice and promote
  • Enjoy working with and an interest in learning how to maintain winery machinery and equipment
  • Hold a current Australian forklift and drivers licence
