Key responsibilities include budget management, technical and production integration, operational planning, stakeholder management, and ensuring compliance with permits, health and safety, emergency management, and risk procedures. Success in this role requires a self-driven, innovative, and adaptable approach to thrive in a dynamic environment.
The Project Manager is required to perform the following key tasks; plus, additional tasks as required and within the scope of experience and availability.
The Gig:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost savings from scoping through delivery, while overseeing all expenditure commitments.
- Collaborate with curatorial, design, technical, and internal departments to achieve the project’s artistic vision, including site planning, production scheduling, and documentation.
- Act as the main point of contact for Creative, Technical, Production, Programming, and Operations teams, managing the collection and distribution of project information.
- Manage onsite delivery teams across all phases, liaising with artists, sponsors, and stakeholders to meet specific requirements.
- Oversee pre-production and delivery of all project elements, including staffing, design, technical, event operations, safety, and compliance, in conjunction with internal teams and the HoP&O.
- Ensure adherence to risk management, safety standards, permit requirements, and compliance, while managing the creation and execution of event, traffic, and pedestrian management plans.
- Maintain proactive relationships with suppliers, internal departments, community, and local businesses to ensure project delivery meets the highest standards.
- Uphold sustainability initiatives and manage venue relationships and contracting as needed.
The You:
- Strong project and production management skills, including experience in technical production, live performance, and events.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and integrating input from senior staff.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and flexible problem-solving approach.
- Experience in the arts, festivals, and events, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, assertive, and able to work efficiently under pressure, with a solid work ethic and flexibility in working hours.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Dark Mofo is hiring for multiple roles with flexible start dates and contract durations. Opportunities are available for both early and closer-to-festival start times, with part-time flexibility outside the peak delivery period.
While this role is based in Hobart, remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
