Darklab is on the hunt for an experienced and enthusiastic Functions & Events Manager to keep their events running smoothly and take them to the next level.

The Functions & Events Manager will take ownership of the functions and events portfolio across the Darklab precinct, focusing on driving revenue through proactive venue sales and exceptional function management. As a mid-senior role, this position requires a dynamic, sales-oriented professional with extensive experience in venue operations and a proven ability to generate business through client engagement, innovative offerings, and seamless event delivery.

The gig:

  • Develop and implement strategies to maximise function bookings and revenue across all Darklab venues.
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities, building strong relationships with corporate and private clients.
  • Create tailored function proposals and event packages, ensuring alignment with client needs and venue capabilities.
  • Conduct site tours and inspections with prospective clients, showcasing the unique offerings of the DarkLab precinct.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Design teams to create compelling sales materials and campaigns.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of functions, ensuring client requirements are met to the highest standard.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., hospitality, music and marketing) and external suppliers to ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all venue policies, safety standards, and contractual agreements.
  • Manage the functions calendar, keeping stakeholders informed of schedules and availability.
  • Maintain a high standard of function operations, ensuring all venues are prepared and equipped for events.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to on-the-ground teams during events, ensuring smooth delivery.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including sales targets, client feedback, and financial outcomes.
  • Implement efficient processes for client correspondence, booking systems, and event reporting.
  • Creating and Managing accurate Run Sheets.
  • Assisting with the management of our online booking platform.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a talent for fostering long-term client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Highly efficient, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Skilled in planning, monitoring, and delivering within financial parameters.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours to meet the demands of the role.
  • Superior written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
